Kode is designed to collect as little as possible. You do not need an account to play, and we never ask for your name, email address or any other personal details. This page explains what data is involved when you use the site.
Data saved on your device
Your game progress, streak, statistics and theme preference are stored in your browser's local storage, along with a random anonymous identifier. This data stays on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how the site is used — for example, how many people visit, which pages they view, and how many finish the daily puzzle. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and only reports aggregated statistics.
Puzzle feedback
Some players are occasionally asked to rate how hard the day's puzzle felt. If you answer, we store your rating together with the puzzle result (solved or not, number of tries, time taken) and your anonymous identifier, so we can tune puzzle difficulty. This feedback is stored with our database provider, Supabase, and is never linked to your identity.
Advertising
Kode is supported by advertising from Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. Where required by law, such as in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we will ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Kode will keep working, although your streak and stats will reset if you clear the site's data.
Children
Kode is a general-audience puzzle and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Kode handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
